Here is your Scotch Plains USY Board!

President Mike Sabony

Hey everyone!!! I’m Mike, your 2011-2012 SPUSY Chapter President. For those of you who don’t know me, I am a senior at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School. Essentially, USY is my life. I have been an active member since sixth grade, and will continue to be for as long as possible. As President, it is my job to oversee and assist the other board members and make sure the chapter is doing as well as it can. This past summer, I went on USY ON WHEELS, one of USY’s AMAZING summer programs. For six-and-a-half weeks, I, along with 43 other USYers, traveled the country seeing national, historical, and recreational sights. For me, USY is not only a youth group, but a family. It is where my best friends are, where I want to spend my time, and what I love. For anyone who has questions or needs information, I am always willing and eager to talk about USY, Wheels, or anything. Email me at sab253@verizon.net or find me on Facebook.

Israel Awareness Vice President Alison Simon

Hey everyone! I'm Alison Simon, and I'm the Israel Affairs Vice President! As IA, I am in charge of keeping everyone up to date on what's going on in Israel- current events and culturally. I also am in charge of planning any Israel- related events we may have! I love being IA because I absolutely love Israel! I spent summer of 2010 there, and feel free to talk to me about going yourself. Check out my Israel blog! Aside from being IA, I am a junior in Westfield High School where I am in the stage design club, I have also written and directed various plays and one acts (most recently the Hanukkah play at my shul). I am very interested in fine arts, and I love New York, reading, and shoes!! Feel free to talk to me about ANYTHING!

Social Action/ Tikkun Olam Vice President Kayla Seigelstein

Shalom! My name is Kayla Rose Seigelstein and I am currently a senior at Westfield High School. My position on the USY board is SA/TO which stands for Social Action/ Tikum Olam. I am in charge of raising money for the charity of our choice while making a difference in as many lives as possible. This position is perfect for me because there is nothing I love more than helping others and knowing I can go to sleep at night with a smile on my face. I feel a great sense of community and family when I am with my USY friends and I love it! Aside from USY I love doing anything active, especially zumba, and I enjoy volunteering and working with children. I know this is going to be a great year for USY, let’s get psyched!!

Religion/Education Vice President Hannah Margolin
Hi! I'm Hannah Margolin, and I'm the Religion/Education Vice President of SPUSY this year. Being Rel/Ed VP means that I get to organize a service at temple led entirely by the USYers -- that's you!! I also help to incorporate religious activity  into our various fun events.
When I'm not Rel/Ed-ing, I love to do theater! I'm a senior at Westfield High School, where I perform in the shows and sing in the school choirs, and, you know, take classes. I love Harry Potter, so if you do too, PLEASE come talk to me about it. We'll have fun :) . I also love meeting people, so say hi to me! Introduce yourself!

Membership Programming Vice President Gabi Sabony
Hey guys! I'm Gabi Sabony, your Membership/Programming VP and a junior at SPFHS. Once you get to know me, I am veryyyy outgoing, and I love to talk! I LOVE USY!!! USY is my life. I have never missed a convention, dance, or encampment. I love USY and all of the memories that i have made. Have I mentioned that I LOVE USY? Don't be afraid to talk to me or ask any questions about USY!

Communications Vice President Carly Grossman

Hey Guys! I'm Carly, your Communications VP. I am 18 years old and a senior at Scotch Plains- Fanwood High School. I am the editor- in chief of the school's literary magazine (Muse) and I am the Director of Technology on the school's newspaper, The Fanscotian. I have been involved with USY all four years of high school and my adoration for Judaism has only grown. During Encampment of my freshmen year, I felt homesick and lonely, I wanted to go home more than anything. But the friends I made that week convinced me to stay at least until Maccabiah (color war). After I saw how amazing USY can be, I decided to become more involved and  have been a lover of USY ever since. I attend dances and conventions, and you can always find me socializing with first timers. I love everything about USY and i enjoy spreading my good feelings around to people who may not be having a good time. Feel free to communicate with me through SPUSY's email, Facebook, or my personal Facebook.

Freshman Representative Lisa Simon

Hi! My name is Lisa Simon and I am the Freshman Representative (Frosh Rep) for the Scotch Plains USY chapter!  I am 14 years old and currently go to Westfield High School. I am an actress and I also do gymnastics, but on top of everything I do USY! I may have only started this year, but I have really become so close to my board they are like a family to me.  I was resistant at first going to a 3 day convention where I didn't know anybody, but I made so many friends it was unbelievable.  I think that in USY you can try as hard as you can not to make friends, but you always will.  As Frosh Rep, it is my duty to bring in new members that will stay with us until they are seniors! That way we can still have a board as the years go by.  I try to get as much publicity out for USY to my fellow freshman as possible, and it looks like we will have a strong board in the years to come! I love USY!!!!!!
